Bonekickers
This was inspired by this post on a2alien. How could I not, really?
You may not have seen Bonekickers which was on a while ago. In that case you are what we call ‘one of the lucky ones’. Think CSI, think Time Team, think the bastard child Tony Robinson would have with Gil Grissom. Think that child leaping to insane conclusions (”Shackles? These people were OBVIOUSLY SLAVES”) being filmed very glossily, and really enjoying crane shots.
And yet you feel kinda bad, because everyone’s obviously tried so hard! It’s just… archaeology is not dramatic. It’s archaeology. It is pretty much the opposite.
In the video you may also notice someone apparantly having their throat cut through chain mail.

Take that, telly archaeologists!

WHAT? is Martin implying that archaeology may not make edgy, fast paced, prime time TV drama… even if you film it from the sky AND people dress up. Next you will be saying that The Antiques Road Show is not a gritty, hard hitting documentary about the black market art trade.

Thank you SO MUCH for the mental image of Tony Robinson and Gil Grissom making a lurve child.
