THANK YOU! This is exactly how I’ve always felt about “taking husband’s last name” (which I officially didn’t do and confuses the hell out of people) My mother in law sent me a birthday card (mine is 2 wks before hubby’s) and all I saw was Mr Stephen Hyde, so I gave it to him. He thanked her when we visited and she said that was for your wife! I said, I saw “Stephen Hyde” so I gave it to him. She couldn’t believe I didn’t see a teeny “s” in there and just *know* that was for me! I said, no, I didn’t notice an “s” on the honourific. Then I had to explain what an honourific was…
